K9-17 works in a unique way by creating a vapor cloud around the dogs face effectively masking the inhaled air with the smell and taste of the product. This deters the dog's natural impulse to bite. Lasting 10-20 minutes, The user is able to evade or capture the dog.

K9-17 is a Spray currently being used by the Police, County Councils, Animal Welfare Officers, The Royal Mail, Utility Workers, Veterinary practitioners and Bailiffs.

K9-17 works by creating a vapour cloud around the dogs muzzle, masking the inhaled air with the smell and taste of our patented formulation. The unique blend of natural oils deters the dogs natural impulse to bite. The effect usually lasts 10 20 minutes. K9-17 contains no artificial or synthetic ingredients. The aim of K9-17 is to effectively protect individuals against dog attack, without posing any threat to the health of the animal.

K9-17 meets all European and UK HSE legislation requirements, and indeed has received derogation (exemption) from the EUs Biocidals Products Directive as it has been assessed to only contain food/feedstuff and therefore poses minimal risk to humans and canines alike. The spray is legal to carry and does not fall under section 5 (1) (b) of the Firearms Act. The spray is formulated with natural oils and not deemed to be noxious.

How to use K9-17:
K9-17 comes in an easy to use hand held aerosol spray format and requires no formal training for use. Simply follow the instructions below remembering to try and stay calm at all times.

1. Be prepared make sure you know where the can is and that you can reach it easily
2. Stay calm
3. Direct the spray nozzle straight at the attacking dog's muzzle
4. When the dog is within 3-5 metres press the nozzle for as long as is necessary ensuring a 'haze' of the contents is between you and the dog, ideally at the head height of the dog
5. On entering the 'haze' the dog will become disorientated and distracted and quickly withdraw
6. Repeat use as necessary until the attacking dog withdraws
